Week 4: First BIG test for the Jets

The New York Jets are 3-0.

The New Orleans Saints are 3-0.

The Jets vs. Saints in New Orleans on Oct. 4, someone is getting their first lost.

Mark Sanchez has impressed many as he has not only given the Jets a 3-0 start, but has completed many passes as well as an rushing touchdown last week against the Tennessee Titans.

This next challenge comes tougher has he faces one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL, Drew Brees.

Many have the young quarter back losing the Saints, but the Jets do have an impressive defense that continues to improve every week since holding Tom Brady to no touchdowns back in week 2.

Sanchez can disprove more critics this weekend when the Jets head into New Orleans. He has a chance to keep his team undefeated another week.

All in all, the Jets continue to show they are just a few years away of capturing another Super Bowl.

Dodgers: Falling apart at the wrong time

When are the Dodgers waiting to clinch a National League West division or will they?

For the past three games, the Dodgers have been giving up games to teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres. That could cost them home field throughout the N.L. playoffs.

Since Sept. 26 the Dodgers could have been N.L. West champs and have been focusing on winning the N.L. but that just hasn't happen.

Now with four games left, the scenario of the Dodgers losing out and the Colorado Rockies winning out to win the N.L. west increase.

With no worries coming out of the Dodgers camp, their owner and other Los Angeles sports experts say soon the Dodgers will clinch, so please do not worry.... Right.

The Dodgers are losing to sub .500 teams with one week left in the season, and they are considered favorites to be in the world series in less than a month? Come on, give the fans a break.

The Dodgers face a lot of issues that they must address before the playoffs start that include: their pitching, defense, and offense.

Something that they didn't have a problem with all season long that has been giving them a hard time, that is their offense.

Now days the team cannot depend on Manny Ramirez to put up big numbers as he has fallen off the face of the earth after they took his steroids away.

Andre Either, Matt Kemp, and James Loney are all inconsistent, which is a bad sign since these are their main core of their batting line.

Pitching has been a headache all season, so all you have to do is hope whoever is pitching, can give you a chance to stay in the game.

Lastly their defense has been slacking off, they either are not focus or just not giving it all this last week. But the way their defense is going, I don't see them going far in the playoffs.

On a last note, the Dodgers need to go back in the month of May and see what they are not doing now.

How 'bout them Cowboys...not

Congratulations Jerry Jones, you finally won a game in that 73 acre colossus of a stadium your team now calls home.

Too bad it isn't going to mean much when it comes to the post season. With that anointed All-star quarterback, who doesn't even know what post season success tastes like, your team is destined to repeat itself yet another year.

Sure, them boy's are 2-1 right now, but it hasn't been very impressive. Sure in week one Jessica Simpson's ex had a nice game throwing for over 300 yards, but it was against the Bucs, the most likely candidate to be this year's Detroit Lions.

And sure they won Monday night, but this was not the same Carolina team we saw just a season ago.

The Cowboys entered Mondays game ranked 30th overall in defense, and how does the saying go? oh yea, "Defense wins games".

Does Jones know his team's only recorded three sacks all season, none coming from their all pro defensive back DeMarcus Ware?

This futile defense is only hurting the offense even more. When the Cowboys decided to release the only player capable of making plays and put Roy Williams as their star wide-out, we all figured this was going to be a run first team.

Unfortunately for Dallas, Marion Barber went down last week with the hamstring injury and just last night back-up Felix Jones suffered a strained knee.
Barber should be back next week when Dallas visits undefeated Denver, but hamstring injuries are prone to pop up again.

So will Dallas make the playoffs this year..I say umm....NO.
Why not you ask?

Well, for one, everything I just mentioned. Two, whoever created the schedules must not be too kind of Jerry Jones, or the team for that matter.

The fact that they play in the NFC East doesn't help either. They still have to face an undefeated New York team, and when I say undefeated New York team, I'm talking about the Giants, in Giant's Stadium.

They also have two games against their hated rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, with the first game being played at Philly on Nov. 8. Donovan McNabb should be healthy by then, if not, then I guess they'll just have to go to Kevin Kolb, who only threw for over 300 yards in his past two games.

If Kolb doesn't work out, then hey, just dust off Jeff Garcia who's resting on the bench.
And if a Garcia's a no-go then, i think they have this one guy named Mike Vick or something.
And if getting through their division isn't hard enough, then I'm sure they'll enjoy a few games against Atlanta, San Diego, Green Bay, and New Orleans.

It's going to be tough to get into the playoffs as an NFC team this year, you'll probably have to win 11 games just to make a wild card spot and I don't see Dallas reaching ten.

So Jerry, you can build yourself a championship stadium, too bad you can't build yourself a championship team.

Mark Sanchez Living A Dream

New York Jets defense hold Tom Brady to no touchdowns, Mark Sanchez fearless to score.

Exciting Sunday morning game against two division teams between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.

Jets defensive hold the Patriots to 299 yards and three field goals, well Sanchez had 163 yards in 14 passes with one touchdown.

With a first win against the Patriots in their own stadium since 2000, the Jets shut down Brady with no touchdowns for the first time since 2006.

With the win over the mighty Patriots, the Jets improve their record to 2-0 and have the best record in the AFC East division well the Patriots fall to 1-1 in the AFC East division.

Sanchez, young rookie who former college coach Pete Carroll said he made a mistake leaving too early to the NFL, is still undefeated in his first two pro career games.

After the game, Sanchez commented on his Twitter, "Big win at home today. Defense was lights out again! Shout out to the fans! We'll need it again next week. A lot of work to do! Go Jets!"

An exciting young player who was caught skipping in joy after the big win is living his dream.

Mexican Soccer: Pushing for World Cup 2010

The 4-team race in the North America tournament to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South America is still competitive with 3 games left for each team.

With Mexico defeating Costa Rica, U.S.A defeating El Salvador, and Honduras defeating Trinidad and Tobago.....

U.S.A and Honduras are tied for first place with 13 points and Mexico and Costa Rica are tied for third place with 12 points.

With a tough game for Mexico to steal in Costa Rica; Mexico had no problem winning the game as they beat Costa Rica 3-0 in front of a intense Costa Rica crowd.

The game was incredibley intense as Costa Rica players shoved and provoked Mexican players in the opening first half.

Just as the whistle was about to blow for halftime, Mexican foward Giovoni Dos Santos blasted the ball into the net from outside the penalty box.

Enough to give the Mexican team momenteum heading into the second half.

The second half the Mexican team looked as they finally took control of the game, as they kept the possision of the ball and limited Costa Rica's chances of shooting at the goal.

With the addition of two more goals from Gerardo Torrado and Andres Guardado, Mexico finished the game early for Costa Rica's supporters as they walked away after the third goal.

With the win for Mexico, they keep themselves in pace with the other three teams, with a match against Honduras on Wednesday in Mexico City.

As the U.S. will face Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica playing El Salvador.

Mexico puts themselves in a great situation after winning their game against Costa Rica, they allow themselves to win their next game against Honduras and clinching themselves a spot in the World Cup as they should have no worries playing their last two games against Trinidad and Tobago and El Salvador.

U.S has a tougher reminding schedule as after they play Trinidad and Tobago, their last two games are against Honduras and Costa Rica.

In final thoughts, as long as Mexico take care of their own business, U.S. will eventually knock out either Honduras or Costa Rica, as U.S and Mexico should be back in the World Cup next year.
