Mexican Soccer: Pushing for World Cup 2010

The 4-team race in the North America tournament to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South America is still competitive with 3 games left for each team.

With Mexico defeating Costa Rica, U.S.A defeating El Salvador, and Honduras defeating Trinidad and Tobago.....

U.S.A and Honduras are tied for first place with 13 points and Mexico and Costa Rica are tied for third place with 12 points.

With a tough game for Mexico to steal in Costa Rica; Mexico had no problem winning the game as they beat Costa Rica 3-0 in front of a intense Costa Rica crowd.

The game was incredibley intense as Costa Rica players shoved and provoked Mexican players in the opening first half.

Just as the whistle was about to blow for halftime, Mexican foward Giovoni Dos Santos blasted the ball into the net from outside the penalty box.

Enough to give the Mexican team momenteum heading into the second half.

The second half the Mexican team looked as they finally took control of the game, as they kept the possision of the ball and limited Costa Rica's chances of shooting at the goal.

With the addition of two more goals from Gerardo Torrado and Andres Guardado, Mexico finished the game early for Costa Rica's supporters as they walked away after the third goal.

With the win for Mexico, they keep themselves in pace with the other three teams, with a match against Honduras on Wednesday in Mexico City.

As the U.S. will face Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica playing El Salvador.

Mexico puts themselves in a great situation after winning their game against Costa Rica, they allow themselves to win their next game against Honduras and clinching themselves a spot in the World Cup as they should have no worries playing their last two games against Trinidad and Tobago and El Salvador.

U.S has a tougher reminding schedule as after they play Trinidad and Tobago, their last two games are against Honduras and Costa Rica.

In final thoughts, as long as Mexico take care of their own business, U.S. will eventually knock out either Honduras or Costa Rica, as U.S and Mexico should be back in the World Cup next year.
